So I was wondering since I quit WoW and picked up GW about a year ago, how IS Warhammer going? Havn't heard anything about it so I take this as a bad sign, seemed like a WoW clone from reading the stuff on their website.

Anybody play it that can inform me?

WAR is okay. It suffers from lack of content, however, and as the playerbase drops the amount of things keeping people playing drops as well. It's basically a PvP WoW, so it generally doesn't appeal to people who have played WoW and quit due to the time investment requirement.

Anyway, it's going downhill. I don't expect it to last much longer.

Yeah, I played my friend's dad's copy for about 2 hours when I was at her house last winter; wasn't impressed. Cruddy, boring graphics (everything is grayish, classes look pretty similar within a race), very lonely (no one was out there, making their little "community quests" undoable). I wasn't impressed with their vaunted PvP system either. It was poorly explained in-game (no on-screen tips or anything for a new character), generally chaotic, and no one communicated with anyone else (the dad said this was due to a horrific chat system).

Some other little nitpicky things: inane "accomplishments" or whatever they were called (there was one for clicking on your character 1,000,000 or so times, for crying out loud!), terrible quest system. The quest log is good for a laugh, though. They didn't even try to disguise the fact that they're just "kill x monsters, collect x flowers, discover x rotten mossy shoes" type quests - in fact, they set up the whole log that way! All the quest progress things are written in terms of "You have collected 2 of 10 imp wings," "You have slain 3 of 5 boars," "You have spoken to 0 of 1 Aldaria" (I'm not making the last one up, except for the name!)

So yeah, sucky. I'd say, if you have to play that kind of game, just go buy WoW. It's better, it looks nicer, it's got more people, and it's not got (as my sophomore English teacher would put it) "one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel".

Warhammer is absolutely horrible. I played to 40 on a marauder, and up to lower levels on some other classes. The game has godawful built-in lag when activating skills (been there since early beta, and still not fixed), and the skill system is inspid and results in pretty much skill-less play. There's lots of mindless zerging with nothing to do except keep trading. The PvE content (dungeons) is godawful. The game is a complete abortion.

I had such high hopes for WAR, but sorry to say, WoW is so much better than Warhammer in pretty much every way that it isn't even funny. And I don't even play WoW currently.

Too much CC (crowd control i.e. stuns, snares, disables, knockdowns) and too much AoE makes for a pretty depressing endgame.

Tiers 1-3 are good, though. And they did fix the lag a bit, largely in regards to casting. But it's still pretty horrendously ridiculous.
